1850's GOLD RUSH PIONEER EDUCATION / LIVING HISTORY FIELD TRIP :
We teach the importance of modesty, respecting your elders and proper group behavior in a fun setting while teaching some of the history and skills needed on the Emigrant Trail in the mid 1800's. Our program is comparable to the Coloma Gold Rush Field Trip, but is much more affordable. We are blessed to have a historical location with a reasonable rent, so we pass the savings to you.
WE PROVIDE cabins for our visiting teachers with real beds and quilts, all meals, tents for our overnight kids and parents that are set up and ready to sleep in, historical activities and authentic arts and crafts.
GOLD FOR EVERYONE !
We are happy to share our gold! At Wagons West Camp... each pioneer leaves with a real piece of placer gold (after learning to pan), that kids turn into a necklace for safe keeping. It's a fun souvenir and helps them to remember what real gold looks like for when they go panning on their own.
We are located at beautiful Rollins Lake in historical Colfax approximately 30 minutes from Roseville off highway 80. All roads are scenic and very well maintained with secured parking and bus turnaround.
OLD SIERRA WAGONS WEST- Living History Camp has provided safe educational field trips for over 20 years. We are positioned on a protected flat 3 acre location that is both environmentally beautiful and well maintained, as well as located just a few miles to any needed emergency care. We are safety conscious so that our visiting teachers, pioneers and their families may have a peaceful, educational experience.

24 HOUR CAMP
Our 24 hour camp is fantastic and allows kids to experience PROVIDED TENT CAMPING! This is a favorite for many reasons. Our campfire time is priceless, and includes the magic of song writing, the history of real S'mores, positive inspiration trail stories we call " sharing the wisdom" and skits. It allows time for a real trail breakfast full of blueberry pancakes, scrambled eggs, bacon (turkey available by request), fruit and tent stories!
We get to quiet down for a silent nature walk and really take in the beauty, and take time for a silent morning stretch. Sometimes our pioneers even take time for a farewell square dance ! Departure time for this class is 10am. We can extend to 1pm if requested for additional activities. There will be an additional cost for extended time to provide staff.
2 DAY & 3 DAY CAMP
Our 2 night 3 day Camp is over the top. The kids pretty much do it all! Teachers pick the activities from most desired, to least and we have a blast taking the kids through the whole experience. Larger classes may not be able to achieve all 22 activities ... But, we sure challenge the kids to stay focused and be aware of time. It is possible to have every class experience! In this class kids leave refreshed, and experienced on the trail. It is awesome to have the luxury of this much time.
Prices depend on class size , so please call 530-613-0809
